TOO MANY EGGS = SO LUSCIOUS QUICHE!

Yes, there is a sign that spring is getting near - the hens have started laying a little bit more!  I actually am now collecting about 3-4 eggs per day!  That means the days are getting longer and on last check there are about 64 days left until spring!!!!

So with too many eggs laying around - i decided to make a quiche this morning.  However because we are trying to stay away from eating bread lately, i made it without the crust.  Which i guess really makes it an egg bake but that doesn't sound as cool as quiche.

I also have been challenged lately by the blog http://www.thepioneerwoman.com/ to take images of food.  So i did.  Some are ok, but really - i need to figure out how to hold a camera and do something in action with my other hand and still get a nice shot.  Then i figured i could really go all out and get the tripod out, and the remote commander, and set it all up so i didn't have to do this all one handed.  But that seemed complicated.  But then again, good images are not easy, right? So here is my first attempt at action food shots (with one hand action and camera).

SPINACH QUICHE

  • 2 cups spinach - chopped
  • 2 cups homemade goats milk mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup goats milk
  • 1 TBS seasoning (i used Mrs. Dash's garlic and herb)
  • 1/3 cup each chopped mushrooms,  and roasted red bell pepper
  • 6 eggs

Crack open eggs in bowl, while holding camera in other hand.

Whisk eggs together with seasonings and milk.
Stir in remaining ingredients.

Pour into pie plate while holding camera in other hand all the while trying to catch the action of the pour and keep it in focus, with just enough bokah (intentional blur) to make it look cool.

Next place into a 350 degree oven and take another image without letting the heat melt your lens.
Bake for approximately one hour (don't you hate it when recipes say approximately?  I mean what is approximately anyway? if its supposed to 55 minutes then say so!)  I baked mine for 50 minutes - cuz it started to look too brown.

Remove from oven and admire the beauty of all your hard work. Take an image of it.
Enjoy a slice of the crustless quiche with a side of avocado, take an image of the empty plate that shows how good it really must've tasted.
